FragMAX has conducted more than 50 fragment and ligand screening campaigns to date, the majority of which have been successful. In this context, success means that bound fragments could be identified in biologically relevant binding pockets. The most common limiting factor in fragment screening has consistently been the availability of a sufficient number of protein crystals of reproducible quality (see Crystal requirements). Once this challenge is resolved, the remaining steps of the workflow typically proceed smoothly.
Although the FragMAX workflow is highly automated, it remains flexible and can be adapted to the specific needs of individual projects. This allows us to support a broad range of protein systems and scientific questions.
You do not need to have a fully defined project plan before contacting us. Many users initially get in touch to discuss feasibility, crystal behaviour, solvent tolerance or access routes, and these early conversations are often the most productive.
