MAX IV Laboratory – the workplace

MAX IV is located in the city of ideas, Lund. A place where academia, business, culture and nature thrive within cycling distance from each other. In addition, it’s only a 50-minute train ride away from the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, and 30-minutes from the international airport Kastrup.

The MAX IV facility, the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in research infrastructure, is one of the brightest sources of X-rays worldwide and replaced the existing laboratory MAX I-III accelerators in 2016. Many see the opportunity to be a part of developing MAX IV reason enough to want to join the team, but it is not the only reason to consider.

Working at MAX IV Laboratory means entering a unique place at a unique time. About 300 people currently work at the facility but MAX IV still has a friendly and familiar atmosphere. We cover a wide range of professions including researchers, engineers, finance officers and more. MAX IV Laboratory is a highly international environment with researchers visiting from all over the world and with more than 30 nationalities represented among our employees.

The working language is English, but Max IV offers all international employees courses in Swedish if they want to learn the language. We also have MAX IV friendship club which organizes several activities for the staff.
At MAX IV the health and wellness of the staff is important and a healthy work-life balance is encouraged, read more on the topic under compensation & benefits.
