MicroMAX is a macromolecular crystallography beamline optimized for determining protein structures at atomic resolution and following structural changes over time through time-resolved crystallography. With versatile sample environments, sample-delivery methods, and advanced instrumentation, the beamline enables studies of protein structural dynamics on timescales ranging from hundreds of microseconds to milliseconds and minutes. It also supports cryogenic rotation crystallography with remote access.
More recently, MicroMAX has expanded its capabilities to enable ptychographic imaging of biological specimens at 50–100 nm spatial resolution without the need for fixation (e.g. paraffin embedding) or staining, complementing phase-contrast X-ray imaging and electron microscopy.
MicroMAX has been funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
NOTE: Results from MicroMAX, in addition to the general acknowledgement for MAX IV, must include the following acknowledgement: “MicroMAX is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation under the grant number NNF17CC0030666”
