SciCat is designed to simplify metadata management, enabling data sharing, discovery, and collaboration. By providing a central hub for metadata, SciCat makes data findable and accessible for the entire community.
Main use cases:
- Find your datasets, for example by proposal or by filtering.
- Browse public datasets and download raw data.
- Make your datasets public, this allows anyone to download the raw data.
- Publish one or many datasets and aqcuire a DOI.
SciCat at MAX IV
At many beamlines at MAX IV, datasets are automatically ingested into SciCat. Datasets consists mainly of creator information, information about raw data files and scientific metadata.

Login to SciCat
Click on “Sign in” in the upper right corner and then click the button “Login with SSO”.
Requirements to be able to login:
- An active MAX IV account, it it the same account used to log into DUO.
- OTP (One Time Password) is setup – see instructions.
