SciPie.maxiv.lu.se – serving the right piece of data just for you

SciPie description

SciPie is a data access service that allows:

  • download of individual files in a web browser
  • exploring individual HDF5 files with a popular h5web application
  • bulk data download using the WebDAV protocol
    • data transfer with popular clients: Cyberduck, WinSCP, FileZilla etc.
    • mount and access the WebDAV-served files through the file system, e.g. davfs2
    • accessing data by means of various Python modules or other tools

SciPie usage guildelines

  • simply follow the link: scipie.maxiv.lu.se
  • the service is using single sign-on (SSO) so one will likely hit the MAX IV SSO & login page or jump directly on the service (figure below)
  • once the service is ready, the SciPie Data Explorer usage is mostly intuitive
  • there are few simple menus in the right top corner
    • one can restart or terminate the user’s service instance
    • normally the service instance stays alive for 24 hours (good to keep in mind for long transfers)
    • one can copy WebDAV credentials and use them in a favorite data transfer client (figure below)
