Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) is a cutting edge technique for visualising biological molecules in near-native state. The technique makes it possibly to study macromolecular complexes without crystallisation. Applications of this research include drug discovery and nanomaterials.
Users can access a Thermo Fisher Glacios 2 transmission electron microscope (cryo-TEM) at MAX IV. The facility supports single-particle analysis (SPA) and cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET).
