The Gyllenstiernska Krapperup Foundation has generously awarded Lund University funding to announce a new Artist in Residence program. Launching and organizing artist residencies at MAX IV is a new way to highlight the activities at MAX IV, while also spotlighting Lund University as Sweden’s leading cultural university by offering new contexts for artistic exploration and exposition.

The chosen artist will be invited to spend time with MAX IV staff and scientists as part of a one-month on-site residency. The goal of the residency is to foster exploration and development of artistic projects that connect to and reflect on current research at MAX IV and related scientific fields. The artist will also have the opportunity to access certain infrastructure offered by the Inter Arts Center in Malmö and Skissernas Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art at Lund University.

MAX IV Director Olof “Charlie” Karis writes, “This is an exciting initiative, and we are thankful that The Gyllenstiernska Krapperup Foundation has given us the opportunity to host this artistic project. I believe that all opportunities for cross-disciplinary interaction contribute to an increase in mutual understanding.”
