The MAX IV Linac and Transfer Lines Magnet Design
Last revised: December 2, 2016
A number of different magnet types and variants have been designed for the MAX IV linac and transfer lines, and a few existing designs have been re-used or modified. Whereas the MAX IV storage ring magnets are designed as “magnet blocks” [1,2], the linac and transfer line magnets are all conventional designs. Detailed magnet design was made with 2D and in most cases also 3D finite element simulations, mostly using the FEMM [3] 2D and Opera-3d [4] 3D codes. This report gives an overview of the different magnet types/variants, and contains or gives reference to the design documentation that exists.
